Officer Shawn McFarland, 31, had been driving an unmarked car south on County Road 24 when he collided with an eastbound car driven by Lisa Gonzalez, 37, of Bayard on Lake Minatare Road.
McFarland allegedly failed to obey a stop sign, according to a State Patrol investigation.
The findings of the patrol’s accident reconstruction team will be forwarded to the Scotts Bluff County Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges.
